Retail Therapy Candle

The gate shouldn't have been open, but it was.

 

Inside, everything felt excessive in the best way. Berries everywhere, the dark purple and red ones that stain your fingers, piled up next to fruit so ripe it was practically begging to be eaten. White flowers hung from everything, and honestly? The smell was almost too much.

 

Someone in the corner was making something in this old silver pot, and whatever it was smelled dark and warm and like it had secrets.

 

The people there all wore this perfume that didn't make sense. How could something smell that sweet and spicy at the same time? Like vanilla but sharper, warmer, with this weird licorice-ish thing happening that kept you guessing.

 

You were only going to stay a minute. But then a minute turned into an hour, and suddenly you're standing there thinking, "When did I become the kind of person who crashes garden parties?"

 

And somehow that felt... right? Like you'd unlocked a different version of yourself.
